Dit tafeltje is onderdeel van de Bookmark Collectie; tafels met een verhaal.
Gemaakt van doorgesneden boeken. Gegoten in epoxy, met een stalen gepoedercoat onderstel.

Dit tafeltje heet ‘Het Landschap’ omdat alle ruggen samen een horizon vormen. Het heeft een rustige, ingetogen uitstraling en is gemaakt van oude jaarverslagen!
Het ontwerp is opgebouwd uit hetzelfde boek; een tweede leven voor boeken/tijdschriften met een natuurlijke houdbaarheidsdatum. Deze exemplaren werden aangedragen door ontwerpbureau Blik uit Utrecht, als bijdrage aan het project. Een mooi gebaar dat zijn weg heeft gevonden naar iets blijvends.

Om praktische redenen (één zijde van een boek is altijd iets dikker dan de andere) maar vooral uit esthetisch oogpunt, heb ik de boeken afwisselend gedraaid. Soms één voor één, soms per twee, soms per drie, waardoor er een rustig en speels ritme is ontstaan dat over het hele blad loopt.

A curated series of unique, handcrafted tables made from cross-cut books. The Bookmark Collection grew out of a love for books, memories, and the magic of things that last. Books carry entire lives within them. Traces of use, notes in the margins, folds, age. The collection explores the boundary between furniture and memory object.

The tables come in four categories:
1. The Mémoire Tables > custom-made from own (often precious) books.
2. Special Editions > tables made from rare or iconic (design)books, like old phone directories or Penguin classics.
3. Passion Tables > organised by subject, such as travel books, school books, cooking, children’s books, books on gardening, dictionaries etc.
4. Chromatic Series > tables built around colour.

The possibility of creating something functional and meaningful from the books of a loved one, even someone who has passed away, is something I find deeply beautiful and valuable. Every (‘Mémoire’) Table tells a unique story. A story about someone we miss and cherish. Someone we want to remember, honour or hold close.

In addition to the custom-made tables, every six months, a small limited batch becomes available.

Most tabletops are reversible: two moods, one piece.
Their metal bases are subtle, colourful, sturdy, and timeless.
